IntelliGel® – Smart sleep comfort



Svane mattresses with IntelliGel come with the very latest in sleep comfort technology. What sets a mattress with IntelliGel apart from a traditional mattress is the unique pressure relief you get when you lie down, no matter how tall or heavy you are.

Pressure relief

IntelliGel does not compress when a weight is placed on it. The pressure relief provided by a mattress with IntelliGel helps you avoid hard pressure on your body. This helps to promote the circulation of the blood and allows you to sleep more peacefully, giving you a better rest.

Body support

IntelliGel is extremely sensitive to pressure and allows the most exposed parts of your body such as your shoulders and hips to sink deeper into the mattress. At the same time, it provides firm support for the rest of your body and keeps your legs and waist up. This ensures your spine is kept straight, allowing you to sleep more comfortably and reducing the risk of back problems.

Ventilation

The properties of IntelliGel aren't affected by temperature or moisture. Large through channels help to ensure that a mattress with IntelliGel will never feel clammy. This is important in order to maintain a natural body temperature, which will fall naturally during the night. Good ventilation and temperature neutrality also make mattresses with IntelliGel a less appealing place for mites. You'll sleep better, and better airing will result in a more hygienic mattress.

Svane® spring mattresses

DuoSystem®

DuoSystem is a spring mattress with two firmness levels. Changes in your body over time mean that you won't necessarily sleep in the same way on the same mattress throughout your entire life. There are times when we may need a firm mattress, while a softer mattress may be desirable at other times. DuoSystem gives you freedom of choice in a single package. Offered with Svane mattresses since 1993.

Two firmness levels, one mattress

DuoSystem offers a medium side and a firm side in one and the same mattress. If you feel like a change and want a different firmness level, all you have to do is turn the mattress over and lie on the other side. The difference in firmness is caused by the stuffing, not the springs.

A safe buy

Having two firmness levels in one and the same mattress reduces the risk of you buying the wrong thing, giving you unique security. Choose your preferred firmness in peace and quiet at home. DuoSystem is also incredibly practical if your body changes at any time (e.g. during pregnancy). It's handy to be able to turn the mattress over and enjoy a different firmness level as your belly grows and the strain on your back increases.

Mattresses don't last longer if you turn them

Some people say that DuoSystem deprives you of the option of turning your mattress to ensure even spring wear. This is wrong. In fact, the stuffing and the springiness and service life of the springs aren't affected by turning your mattress like this. We should know – we've been making mattresses for 75 years!

SmartZoneTM S - our new, smart spring system

SmartZone S is our most recent and smartest spring system. This spring system offers optimum support and comfort for the shoulder and neck areas, which often come under strain during a busy week. With plenty of challenges each day of the week, neck and shoulder pain is among the most common reasons for poor sleep quality.

SmartZone S a smaller spring within a bigger spring, and this means the pressure from your body will be distributed across the mattress. The SmartZone S springs’ special construction means the hips and waist will get great support. The neck and shoulders will sink deeper into the mattress and will rest throughout the night. It’s the inside that counts.

PluraSone®

To enjoy a good night's sleep, your "plumbline" – which runs from your neck, along your spine and down between your heels when you're lying on your side – should be straight. But this is only possible if your shoulders sink further down into your mattress than your hips. This is why Ekornes' mattress experts have developed PluraSone. It's what's inside that counts.

PluraSone® keeps your spine straight

PluraSone is made up of zoned pocket springs of the very best quality. The shoulder zone has extra soft springs so that the shoulders sink further down into the mattress without resistance. The springs in the hips are slightly less soft, adapting to the shape of the hips. The springs beneath the waist and thighs are firmer as their prime function is to provide support and hold you up.

Only Svane® has PluraSone®

The different firmness levels in PluraSone vary thanks to a set of springs which only Svane can offer. This set of springs provides greater flexibility, evening out the transitions between zones when you lie down. When your mattress provides true pressure relief, you actually need very little to support your neck and head. So having too high a pillow will have an adverse effect on your reclining position.

Build your own mattress

FlexSystem allows you to take all firmness levels home with you with ease, allowing you to choose at your leisure the spring system and firmness level that are perfect for you. Fewer textile layers ensure better mattress spring, so further enhancing comfort. Having fewer textile layers also allows less dust to accumulate. Choose from several firmness levels thanks to our turnable mattresses with DuoSystem. If you'd like even more options to choose from, our extra firm under mattresses can be placed on top to give you even more firmness.

Cirrus® Fiber®

Cirrus Fiber is a new stuffing used in the Svane Temptation mattress topper. This material helps you to fall asleep more quickly while also helping to regulate your body temperature. Cirrus Fiber prevents vapour condensing to form liquid, as well as helping to ensure good ventilation. This keeps the mattress clean and dry.

Now we have gel in our mattress toppers - LatexGel

The new Svane Temptation uses a LatexGel core which provides soft, enveloping comfort. When used together with Cirrus Fiber, LatexGel helps to effectively reduce cooling time, allowing you to fall asleep more quickly. Your body temperature falls naturally while you fall asleep. Surplus heat from your body is stored in the gel granulate (the tiny pieces of gel) in the material. When you get up in the morning, this heat remains trapped inside the material. The moisture and heat are "forced" out of the bed, resulting in a dry, cool and fresh bed in record time.

Elastec - a first class synthetic material

Our product development experts are constantly working to find ways to achieve the perfect mattress. Elastec is a first-class synthetic material which Ekornes produces itself at its Fetsund factory. This is used in products such as the Svane Pure mattress topper, offering unique springiness and shaping itself to your body. This ensures perfect sleep comfort. It's also breathable and wicks moisture away from your body. At the same time, the mattress topper helps to keep your bed more hygienic and extends the life of your mattress.

Svane® Sleep Cycle™

We know what you should look for when you're buying a mattress. Svane Sleep Cycle is the scientific foundation for the best sleep comfort. You need three things for a perfect sleep:

  • Good ventilation, allowing the mattress to maintain a comfortable temperature and wick away moisture
  • Unique pressure relief ensures you sleep peacefully and wake up refreshed in the morning
  • Optimum body support to allow you to move around and vary your position

1Ventilation

Many people have experienced the sensation of waking up with a hot, clammy mattress beneath them. This is because the moisture and heat from your body aren't allowed to escape but remain close to your body. This is why the ventilation properties of your mattress are crucial to a good night's sleep. Your mattress must work away moisture and maintain the correct body temperature all night long.

2Body support

Your body needs to move and you won't ever lie completely still throughout the night no matter what kind of mattress you sleep on. It's the same as when you're awake – you rarely stand upright in the same position for any length of time. A good mattress allows your body to move without strain and provides optimum support for your body no matter how you lie.

3Pressure relief

If you've ever been camping and slept on a thin groundsheet, you'll remember how stiff and sore you felt when you woke up. That's because the most vulnerable pressure points of your body – your hips, shoulders and back – didn't receive the pressure relief they needed throughout the night

Why mattresses matter - a chiropractor's opinion

"As a chiropractor with 20 years' experience of muscular and skeletal problems, I've seen how important mattresses are to people's backs and health. That's why I agreed immediately when I was invited to help develop the new mattress. The objective has been to develop a mattress that meets my demands in my capacity as a chiropractor."

Perfect back support

As a chiropractor, Svane Zefir and Svane Zenit are the closest thing I've found to ideal mattresses. This is because they use IntelliGel, which exhibits very important characteristics. The unique cellular structure reduces the problem of hip and shoulder pressure points. These pressure points frequently cause significant problems; tenderness and pain. People who have to spend a lot of time in bed may even find they develop sores as a result of pressure.

I'd also like to emphasise the excellent support for the spine. IntelliGel means that Svane Zefir and Svane Zenit are better than other types of mattress in this respect, and there's evidence to indicate that IntelliGel reduces the risk of back problems. IntelliGel provide good support for the whole body while also allowing the shoulders and hips to sink down into the mattress. This reduces the risk of incorrect positioning and a bad back. Finally, I'd like to mention the stability of the structure. The cellular structure causes the mattress to return to its original shape straight away when you move around in your sleep. This reduces the risk of you waking up and ensures you sleep better in general.
