Ekornes AS is a manufacturer of quality furniture based in Sykkylven, which always puts our customers first. Putting our customers first also means that we are transparent about how we process your personal data. Use of Ekornes’ services is subject to the terms of this data protection policy. 

Ekornes AS is the data controller for the processing of personal data as described in the data protection policy. Questions regarding our processing of personal data can be sent to the Data Protection Officer:

We collect your personal data to provide, support, adapt and develop our services, as well as to make the services more relevant and useful to you. By personal data we mean information that is directly or indirectly related to you.

By using our warranty registration form, your purchases will be registered. This includes the following information:

When you use our catalog order form to order a printed catalog, we collect the following information about you:

When you visit our website, we log your user behavior, for example when you view or click on content, or search for content on the website. See Section 3.3 for a more detailed description of what information is collected. 


Ekornes processes your personal data in order to be able to offer you a customized and personal user experience of our services. 

3.1. Newsletter 

For us to be able to send out newsletters, we process personal data to: 

Send our newsletter to you, and thereby keep you updated on new products or similar marketing-related communications, as well as send you special offers.
Contacting you regarding changes to this data protection policy.
If you participate in campaigns or competitions organized by Ekornes through our newsletters, the information you provide us will be used to administer the campaign or competition.
We use your email address to verify your identity, should we need to.

Your email address will be stored in a separate database; it will not be shared with others, and it will be deleted when you no longer wish to receive the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by using the unsubscribe option at the bottom of the newsletter. 

3.2. Warranty registration 

When you register a warranty, we process your personal data in order to: 

Complete registrations
Compile reports (e.g. purchase statistics) and to analyze sales (frequency, number of items sold, stock time, etc.)
Send relevant warranty information


The personal data collected when you visit is used to personalize and improve the content of our website, as well as to show you ads for our products in other channels and on other websites.

Used to distinguish between users and increases. The cookie is created to load the JavaScript library when there is no previous version of the _ga cookie. The cookie is updated every time you send data to Google Analytics.

Used to distinguish between different tracking objects created in the session. The cookie is created to load the JavaScript library when there is no previous version of the _gat cookie. The cookie is updated every time you send data to Google Analytics.

Used to distinguish users.

General purpose platform session cookie, used by websites written with Microsoft .NET based technology. Typically used to maintain an anonymized user session by the server.

This cookie is associated with the Sitecore Content Management System, which is used for web analytics to identify repeat visits by the same user.
This is a Facebook Pixel linking to your Facebook account. It lasts for 3 months. It is used when you are logged in to Facebook in your browser and allows us to offer more tailored advertising. It is also used for anonymous tracking of traffic received via Facebook ads.
If you do not want Facebook to offer tailored advertising based on traffic, this can be deactivated. This is done by following this link. You make changes under “Advertisement settings” and “Advertisements based on partner data”.
3.3.1. Statistics and analysis 

Ekornes collects information about visitors to in order to compile statistics about how the website is used. The purpose is to improve and develop the information on the website. Examples of information in the statistics are the number of visits, length of visitors, which website the user came from and which browser was used. 

3.3.2. Use of cookies 

Ekornes uses cookies on Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer when you visit a website. Cookies allow us to understand the user’s behavior on the website so that we can improve the user experience. Cookies only contain text, which is usually encrypted.

As a user of Ekornes’ services, you have the right to request information about the personal data we process and how it is processed. You can also request the correction of errors, erasure or restriction of processing of the data in accordance with applicable data protection legislation. 

Ekornes processes your personal data when we need to fulfill our legitimate interests, to fulfill agreements with you or on the basis of your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing of your personal data for the period up to the withdrawal. 

Your requests regarding the above can be sent to the Data Protection Ombudsman;

If you believe that Ekornes has infringed your rights under applicable data protection legislation, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Agency in Norway or in your country of residence. 


Ekornes reserves the right to amend and adapt this data protection policy. If we make any changes, you will be informed through our services.
